About Even Stitch Increases
When you need to add stitches evenly across a row (to go up a needle size, change stitch pattern, or resize), the key is to space the increases as evenly as possible.
- Divide the current stitch count by the number of increases needed to find the base interval.
- If the stitches don't divide perfectly, some intervals will be one stitch longer — the calculator shows both.
- In crochet, an "inc" = 2 sc in 1 st. In knitting, use kfb or M1 as your pattern specifies.
This tool is for increases only. For decreases, use the Even Stitch Decrease Calculator.
