Pattern Center Finder

Find your pattern's center stitch and get fabric marking instructions for accurate placement.

How to Use This Tool

Enter your pattern's stitch count (width × height). The tool shows you exactly which stitch is at the center — or, for even-count patterns, which two stitches straddle the center.

Odd Count vs. Even Count

Odd stitch count: There is one exact center stitch. Place this stitch at the marked center of your fabric.

Even stitch count: The center falls between two stitches. The two center stitches are identified. Start stitching to one side of the fabric center mark, or place your first stitch at the center of the fabric and work symmetrically outward.

Starting Stitch Recommendation

Many stitchers prefer not to start at the exact center — instead, start at a highly detailed area of the design, or at the top-left of the center section, to keep the pattern easy to read. The center coordinates help you count out to wherever you want to begin.

From Fabric Center to Corner

The calculator shows how many stitches to count from the fabric center to reach each corner of the pattern. This helps you verify there is enough fabric on all sides before you begin.
