How to use this calculator

When you buy materials in bulk (a full skein of yarn, a yard of fabric, a pack of buttons), only part of that supply goes into each item. This tool calculates cost per unit, then multiplies by how much you actually use per item — giving you the accurate material cost to use in your pricing.

Example: $12 skein with 200 yards = $0.06/yard. Use 50 yards per hat → $3.00 yarn cost per hat
