Knitting Increase / Decrease Calculator

Find how often to increase or decrease stitches evenly across a set number of rows.

How It Works

This calculator evenly distributes increases or decreases across the given number of rows.

  • Increase: The number of increases needed = target − current. These are spaced as evenly as possible across the available rows. If the rows don't divide evenly, some intervals will be 1 row longer.
  • Decrease: Same logic in reverse. If your stitch change count is greater than the rows available, you'll need to work multiple increases/decreases per row (the calculator will note this).
  • Even vs. odd rows: The instructions assume you work increases/decreases on right-side rows only. Adjust if you work in the round or on every row.

These are guidelines — your pattern may require specific placement at edges or center. Always read your full pattern before adjusting.
