The Oval Formula
An oval is formed by working a foundation chain along the long axis and then crocheting in the round, adding increases at each end to create the curved short ends.
Foundation chain = (Length − Width) × gauge, rounded to the nearest whole number. This gives the straight section; the width is added by the semicircular ends.
Each increase round adds stitches at both short ends. The number of increases per end equals the starting semi-circle stitch count, similar to flat circle math.
