Amigurumi Part Scaling Calculator
Scale all amigurumi parts proportionally from a reference body size, or resize by changing gauge.
Scale by Proportions
Enter the body diameter and percentage ratios for each part.
Resize by Gauge Change
Enter the original pattern gauge and your new gauge to proportionally scale all dimensions.
Common Amigurumi Proportion Reference
| Part | Typical % of Body | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 75–90% | Large heads = cuter / more "chibi" look |
| Arms | 50–70% | Shorter arms look more huggable |
| Legs | 60–80% | Longer legs = more doll-like |
| Ears | 20–35% | Varies widely by animal type |
| Snout / nose | 25–40% | Larger snout = more animal, smaller = cuter |
| Tail | 20–50% | Decorative; varies by species |
How to Use — Proportion Scaling
- Enter the diameter of the body piece you want to make.
- Enter percentage ratios for each other part (e.g., head at 80% means head is 80% the diameter of the body).
- Click Calculate Parts to see all dimension targets in inches.
How to Use — Gauge Scaling
- Enter the original pattern's gauge and your actual gauge.
- Enter the original dimensions (one per line, any format).
- Click Scale All Dimensions to see how each measurement changes at your gauge.
Why Scale by Gauge?
If a pattern is written for 5 sts/inch and you crochet at 3.5 sts/inch, your finished pieces will be (5 ÷ 3.5 = 1.43×) larger than the pattern states. The gauge scaler applies this multiplier to all dimensions so you can predict exactly how big your finished ami will be — or adjust to hit a target size.
Results are estimates. Actual results vary by gauge, tension, yarn, and hook size.
